Servings 30 large cookies
- 1 cup 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 cups old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup M&Ms or similar chocolate candies
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy.
Add peanut butter and mix until well combined.
Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
Stir in baking soda and salt.
Fold in oats, then chocolate chips and M&Ms.
Scoop dough into large balls (about 2 tablespoons each) and place 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden and centers are just set.
Let cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack.
-
Use creamy peanut butter for the best texture—avoid natural types that separate.
-
Don’t overbake; they’ll firm up as they cool.
-
For perfectly round cookies, gently shape the dough balls before baking.
-
Press a few extra M&Ms on top of each dough ball for a bakery-style look.
-
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
