Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Flaky sea salt for topping optional

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease.
  • Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
  • Add Dry Ingredients: Stir in baking soda, salt, and flour until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Bake: Spread dough evenly into prepared pan. Bake for 23–25 minutes, or until edges are set and center is just slightly underbaked.
  • Cool and Slice: Let cool in the pan for 30 minutes before slicing. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if using.

Notes

  • Don’t overbake—slightly gooey centers make for softer bars.
  • Let the bars cool completely for cleaner cuts.
  • Add a handful of chopped nuts or swirl in peanut butter for variety.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temp for up to 5 days.
