Ingredients

For the Chocolate Cake:

  • 1 and 3/4 cups 220g all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup 75g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups 400g granulated sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup 240ml whole milk
  • 1/2 cup 120ml vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup 240ml boiling water
  • 10 Oreo cookies crushed

For the Oreo Frosting:

  • 1 cup 230g unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups 480g powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup 120ml heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 Oreo cookies finely crushed

For Garnish:

  • 5 Oreo cookies crushed
  • 1/4 cup 60g melted chocolate

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans and set aside.
  • Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the Wet Ingredients: Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  • Incorporate Boiling Water: Gradually add boiling water while stirring. The batter will be thin, but this ensures a moist cake.
  • Add Crushed Oreos: Gently fold in the crushed Oreo cookies.
  • Bake the Cake: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool Completely: Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Prepare the Frosting: Beat the butter until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract, beating until fluffy. Fold in the crushed Oreos.
  • Assemble the Cake: Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a generous amount of frosting over it. Place the second layer on top and frost the entire cake.
  • Garnish: Sprinkle crushed Oreos on top and drizzle with melted chocolate.
  • Serve & Enjoy: Slice and serve your decadent Chocolate Oreo Cake!

Notes

  • Use high-quality cocoa powder for the richest chocolate flavor.
  • Make sure your ingredients are at room temperature for a smoother batter and even baking.
  • Don't overmix the batter, as this can make the cake dense.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting to avoid melting the buttercream.
  • For extra Oreo crunch, add chopped Oreos between the cake layers.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving for a firmer texture and easier slicing.
