In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix well.
Add the yeast mixture and 3 cups of flour. Stir until combined.
Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.
Punch down the dough and roll out to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 2-inch squares or use a round cutter.
Place on a greased baking sheet and cover with a clean towel. Let rise again for 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
Brush with melted butter immediately after baking.
