Ingredients

For the Rolls:

  • 1 packet active dry yeast 2 1/4 tsp
  • 1/4 cup warm water 110°F
  • 1 cup warm milk 110°F
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour plus more as needed
  • Extra butter for brushing

For the Cinnamon Honey Butter:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  • In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix well.
  • Add the yeast mixture and 3 cups of flour. Stir until combined.
  • Gradually add the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled.
  • Punch down the dough and roll out to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut into 2-inch squares or use a round cutter.
  • Place on a greased baking sheet and cover with a clean towel. Let rise again for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  • Brush with melted butter immediately after baking.

For the Cinnamon Honey Butter:

  • In a small bowl, beat the butter until smooth.
  • Add powdered sugar, honey, and cinnamon. Beat until light and fluffy.
  • Serve at room temperature with warm rolls.

Notes

  • Don't rush the rise; a proper proofing ensures light, fluffy texture.
  • Brush with butter right out of the oven to keep the crust soft and flavorful.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container or freeze for later.
  • Use whole milk for richer results, but any milk will work.
