  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest from 1 large orange
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, powdered sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract and orange zest.
  • Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Scoop 1-tablespoon portions of dough, roll into balls, and place 2 inches apart on the baking sheets.
  • Flatten each ball slightly with your fingers or the bottom of a glass.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are just barely golden.
  • Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated orange zest for the best flavor.
  • Don’t overbake—these cookies should stay pale with lightly golden bottoms.
  • For extra elegance, dust with powdered sugar after baking.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
