Ingredients

  • 4 oz saltine crackers about 1 sleeve
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer, edge to edge.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter and brown sugar. Stir until melted and bubbling.
  • Once it begins to boil, let it cook for 3 full minutes without stirring.
  • Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture evenly over the crackers. Use a spatula to spread it out to the edges.
  • Bake for 5-6 minutes, or until bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let sit for 5 minutes to melt.
  • Spread the softened chocolate into an even layer. Sprinkle chopped pecans on top.
  • Let cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or chill in the fridge to speed things up.
  • Once fully set, break into pieces and serve.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper for easy removal and cleanup.
  • Watch the toffee closely while baking to avoid overcooking.
  • Add a pinch of flaky salt on top for an extra flavor kick.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
