  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 large eggs beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F. Lightly grease an 8x8-inch baking pan.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, butter, and water. Heat over medium until the mixture begins to boil.
  • Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips until smooth and melted.
  • Stir in beaten eggs and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda. Add to the chocolate mixture and stir until just incorporated.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the top is set and edges start to pull away from the pan.
  • Cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For extra fudgy brownies, underbake slightly and chill before slicing.
  • Add espresso powder to enhance the chocolate flavor.
  • Sprinkle the top with flaky salt before baking for a gourmet finish.
  • These freeze well—wrap individually and thaw as needed.
