Ingredients

For the Brownies

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup flour

1/3 cup cocoa

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

2 eggs

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips


For the Cookie Dough

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 stick unsalted butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 cup applesauce

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 ΒΌ cups flour

1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips


Instructions

Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Start by making the brownies. In a large bowl, whisk together all the dry ingredients. Add the eggs, oil, and vanilla and combine until well incorporated. Add the chocolate chips and stir. Pour the batter into the greased pan and put into oven. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until brownies are set. Let cool completely.

Meanwhile, prepare the cookie dough. Cream together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and butter. Add vanilla and applesauce. Next, add salt and flour (one cup at a time). Stir in chocolate chips.

Spread cookie dough evenly over brownies. Place in the fridge for 1 hour before cutting or until ready to serve.


Notes

Brownies will keep up to 5 days stored in an airtight container in the fridge or up to 2 months in the freezer.
